Why do sloths move so slowly?

Sloths move slowly because their whole lifestyle saves energy. Leaves do not give much quick energy, so sloths have slow digestion and careful movements. Going slowly also helps them avoid being noticed by predators. Their bodies are built for hanging, resting, and spending energy sparingly.
