How do termite mounds stay cool inside?
Termite mounds work like breathing buildings made from mud. The mound has tunnels and tiny openings that guide warm air, cooler air, and gases through the nest. As outside temperatures change, airflow shifts. This helps protect the colony and the fungus some termites grow for food.
