Why do honey badgers have such loose skin?

Loose skin helps honey badgers twist and fight when grabbed. If a predator bites a honey badger, the skin can slide around instead of holding the body tightly in place. That gives the animal room to twist, bite back, or escape. Thick skin also adds protection.
