Why does your stomach growl?

Your stomach growls when gas and liquid move through squeezing intestines. The digestive system keeps pushing food, liquid, and air along with waves of muscle. When the stomach or intestines are emptier, the sloshing and squeezing can sound louder, like plumbing in your belly.
