How does a vending machine know a coin is real?

Because a vending machine quietly tests every coin's size, weight, metal, and movement. As a coin rolls past, sensors check its width, thickness, and how it behaves near a magnet. The machine compares all those clues to a real coin's fingerprint. If anything doesn't match, the coin drops straight into the return slot.
