How does a marker pen keep ink flowing?

A marker uses a sponge-like core and a felt tip to feed ink. Inside the pen, ink sits in a porous reservoir. The tip touches that reservoir and pulls ink forward through tiny spaces. When you write, ink moves from the wet tip onto paper.
