Why do clownfish live safely among stinging anemones?

Clownfish survive among anemone tentacles because mucus helps protect them. Anemones sting many animals with tiny harpoons. Clownfish have a special mucus coating that seems to stop the anemone from firing strongly at them. The fish gain shelter, while the anemone may get cleaning and food scraps.
