Why do meteor showers happen at the same time each year?
Meteor showers repeat when Earth crosses the same dusty comet trail. As a comet orbits the Sun, it leaves bits of dust along its path. Each year Earth passes through that stream at about the same place in its orbit, and the dust burns as meteors.
