How do sea stacks form near cliffs?
Sea stacks form when waves carve a cliff into separate pillars. Waves attack cracks in coastal rock, making caves and arches. If an arch roof collapses, a pillar of rock can remain offshore. Continued waves slowly wear the stack down too.
