Teeth feel smooth after brushing because plaque has been scrubbed away. Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria and food bits that builds on teeth. A toothbrush and toothpaste loosen it from the enamel surface. With less film, your tongue feels the harder, smoother tooth underneath.
