Why do yawns make your eyes water?
Yawning can squeeze tear glands and press fluid toward your eyes. A big yawn stretches face muscles and scrunches tissues around the eyes. That pressure can push tears out or make them spread more. Tired eyes may already be watery, so yawning makes it noticeable.
