Why do oven doors have thick glass?

Because thick, layered glass keeps the heat locked in and everyone safely outside it. The glass lets you peek at your food without ever opening the door. Several layers with tiny air gaps between them slow the heat from escaping, while special glass handles the scorching temperatures inside.
