How does dry shampoo soak up oil?

Dry shampoo uses fine powders to absorb oily material from hair. The powder spreads over hair strands and scalp, where it clings to oil and moisture. Brushing or rubbing removes some of the powder with the oil attached. It freshens hair without rinsing.
