How does water reach the top floor of a skyscraper?

Tall buildings lift water in stages so gravity and pressure can do the rest. Water pressure from city pipes is usually not strong enough to reach the top of a very tall building. Skyscrapers use pumps to push water up to tanks or pressure zones on different floors. From there, gravity or smaller pumps send water to taps, toilets and sprinklers nearby.
