Why do snowploughs have angled blades?
An angled blade pushes snow sideways instead of simply piling it in front. If a snowplough blade were straight across, snow would build up ahead of the vehicle and become harder to push. An angled blade turns the moving snow toward the side of the road, where it can form a bank away from the driving lane.
