How does a zipper hold two sides together?
Because a zipper locks its tiny teeth together, one matching pair at a time. Each side of the zipper has a row of teeth shaped to fit perfectly into the gaps of the other side. Pull the slider, and a Y-shaped channel inside guides both rows together, pressing them into a neat, interlocking zigzag.
