How do windscreen wipers stay pressed against curved glass?

Because spring pressure and a flexible blade help wipers hug the windscreen's gentle curve. A windscreen isn't flat, so a wiper can't just be a stiff stick. A spring pulls the arm firmly toward the glass, and the flexible rubber blade, held by a curved frame, spreads that pressure evenly all along its length.
