Why do wet roads look darker?
Wet roads look darker because water changes how light bounces from the surface. A dry road is rough, so it scatters light in many directions, including back to your eyes. When water fills tiny gaps, the surface becomes smoother and more light passes into the road material instead of bouncing straight back.
