How does bubble wrap protect fragile things?
Bubble wrap protects objects by spreading impacts and squashing air pockets instead of the object. Each bubble is a small cushion of trapped air. When a package is bumped, the bubbles compress and spread the force over more time and area. That means the fragile object gets a gentler push rather than a sharp hit.
