How do weaverbirds knot grass into hanging nests?
By using their beaks to loop, pull and weave flexible plant strips. A male weaverbird starts by fastening grass around a branch. He threads and tucks more strips through the growing structure, tightening loops with his beak. The result is a woven nest that can hang securely while remaining light and springy.
