Why do male proboscis monkeys have enormous noses?

Because a large nose helps shape loud calls and may signal maturity to females. Adult male proboscis monkeys develop long, hanging noses. The nose affects the sound of their calls, helping make them deeper and more resonant. Its size is also linked with male body size and may provide information during social and mating interactions.
