Why do leaf sheep sea slugs look like tiny plants?

Because their green branches hold stolen chloroplasts from the algae they eat. Leaf sheep are tiny sea slugs that feed on algae. They keep some working chloroplasts, the cell parts that capture light energy, inside their own tissues. The chloroplasts add green colour and can continue photosynthetic activity for a time.
