Why can ice cream make your forehead hurt?
Because sudden cooling in the mouth can trigger pain signals carried by facial nerves. Very cold food quickly chills the roof of your mouth and nearby tissues. Blood vessels and nerves react to the fast temperature change. The brain can interpret the signal as pain in the forehead, even though the cold food never touched it.
