Human Body
Why does hair sometimes stop growing on a scar?
Because deep scarring can replace normal skin structures, including hair follicles. Hair grows from follicles buried in the skin. A shallow wound may leave follicles unharmed, but a deeper injury can destroy them. The body closes the area with scar tissue, which is strong repair material but may not contain new hair follicles.
