Why does cling film stick to bowls without glue?

Because the thin plastic makes close contact and electrical attractions help it hold. Cling film is soft and flexible, so it presses closely against smooth surfaces. Molecules in the plastic and bowl attract one another weakly at very short distances. Static charge can help too, especially after the film is pulled from a roll.
