Why does Jupiter have colourful stripes around it?
Because fast winds separate cloud bands moving in different directions. Jupiter's atmosphere is divided into belts and zones. Powerful jet streams race east and west, keeping neighbouring bands partly separated. Different cloud heights, chemicals and temperatures give the bands contrasting colours, creating the planet's striped appearance.
