Why do some spiral galaxies have a bright bar through the middle?

Because stars can settle into long, organised orbits that form a bar-shaped structure. In many spiral galaxies, large groups of stars do not circle in simple round paths. Their linked orbits can create an elongated bar across the centre. The bar also influences gas, helping move material inward and shaping the galaxy's spiral pattern.
