Space
Why is ancient light still travelling through the whole universe?
Because radiation released when the young universe became transparent has continued crossing expanding space ever since. Early in cosmic history, the universe was a hot fog that trapped light. As it cooled, atoms formed and light could finally travel freely. Space has expanded for billions of years, stretching that original glow into faint microwaves found in every direction.
