How did gramophones make music louder without electricity?
By using a needle, vibrating diaphragm and horn to turn groove movement into stronger air vibrations. A record groove wiggles the needle as the disc turns. The needle moves a thin diaphragm, creating sound vibrations. A large horn couples those vibrations to more air and directs them outward, making the music loud enough to hear across a room.
