Why do towns sometimes grow around border crossings?
Because a busy crossing creates repeated needs for transport, trade, food, storage and services. When people and goods regularly pass through one point, workers and businesses gather nearby. Warehouses, markets, repair shops and accommodation may appear. Over time, a small checkpoint area can become an important settlement shaped by movement between two regions.
