How do scientists know how fast dinosaurs could move?
Fossil footprints can preserve both stride length and movement. Scientists measure the distance between footprints and compare it with the dinosaur's estimated leg length. These trackways can help calculate approximate speed and reveal whether an animal was walking, running or changing direction.
