How do vacuum cleaners suck up dust?

A spinning fan creates fast-moving airflow that carries dust into the machine. That rushing air sweeps up dust, crumbs, and fluff along with it, carrying everything into the vacuum. A filter or bag catches all the dirt while the clean air keeps flowing through.
