Why did some dinosaurs grow so huge?

Their bodies were unusually well suited to becoming enormous. Giant sauropods had lightweight bones, efficient breathing systems and long necks that helped them reach large amounts of food. They could grow quickly without carrying an impossibly heavy skeleton, allowing some species to reach extraordinary sizes.
