History & Time
How can scientists reconstruct a dinosaur from only a few bones?
Related species can help fill in parts of an incomplete skeleton. Palaeontologists compare missing areas with better-known relatives and study where muscles attached to surviving bones. Reconstructions are scientific estimates, so they can change when new fossils or better evidence appear.
